Fight turns deadly on Indy's east side, with one dead and three at-large

INDIANAPOLIS — A fight that took place at a busy east side area turned deadly on Tuesday night.

According to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Lieutenant, a fight that involved four individuals occurred in the parking lot of a Family Dollar at East New York Street and Sherman Drive.

At least one person pulled out a gun and started shooting, police say. One of the four people involved in the altercation died as a result of the shooting. According to the Marion County Coroner's Office, the deceased is 22-year-old Deshawn Jefferson, Jr.

Jefferson died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Chief Deputy Coroner.

The three other individuals are said to have run away from the scene in a vehicle. The three individuals are still at-large, according to investigators.

More information on the victim of the shooting will be released at a later time.
