MUNCIE — A 15-year-old student who was armed with a handgun outside of Muncie Central High School on Wednesday is being formally charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Property (a Level 6 Felony), Dangerous Possession of a Firearm (Class A Misdemeanor) and Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor), and Intimidation (a Level 5 Felony).
The Muncie teen encountered a former MCHS student — unidentified by investigators — at the intersection of North Walnut Street and Myrtle Avenue, where he showed the person his firearm. According to the Muncie Police Department, the 15-year-old told the person that he had "beef" with some people at the school and that he had to bring the gun to school.
Investigators also say the teen told the MCHS graduate that "he might have to shoot some people."

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, the teen had been disruptive on the day he brought the gun near the school. Citing that he "had been instructed several time by Officer Brandon Qualls and Assistant Principal Justion Oliver" to remove a red bandanna," and he has told his 4th period class teacher that he would not do his school work "because he would not be here much longer."
The school's resource officer was notified of the interaction outside of the school when they notified Muncie PD. Officials located the 15-year-old at North Walnut and Myrtle Avenue, where, according to the Probable Cause, they had to verbally command the teen to put his hands up three times. After the third refusal, an officer was able to apprehend the teen physically.
A silver and black Jiminez Arms 380 Semi-Auto handgun was located inside of the 15-year-old's shorts pocket with two fully loaded magazines — with six 380 rounds in each magazine. In one of the teen's bookbags, a box of .380 hollow points, four cellphones, and a box cutter were located.
The teen did tell the MCHS student that he had the gun on him while in school earlier in the day Wednesday.
