BUNKER HILL — Indiana State Police are investigating after an inmate at Miami Correctional Facility was found dead on Monday.
According to a report from Indiana State Police, inmate Lannie Morgan, 70, of South Bend, was found unresponsive in his cell around 9:40 a.m. Monday. An ambulance was called, however, Morgan died before reaching the local hospital.
Troopers said investigators suspect foul play and are treating the death as a homicide.
State police said an autopsy was conducted and the results are pending.
Morgan had been incarcerated with the Indiana Department of Correction since December 2011.
The investigation remains ongoing.
