ANDERSON — Four elementary school kids suffered minor injuries when a suspected drunk driver rear-ended a school bus in Anderson on Monday.
Anderson Police Department officers responded to the scene just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of 38th Street and Columbus Avenue.
Police say witnesses told them that the 23-year-old man rear-ended a school bus and then left the scene on foot.
Four children on the school bus were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was later apprehended by police.
Police responding to the scene say the driver appeared intoxicated and police found eight 50ml bottles of liquor in his possession before conducting field sobriety tests.
The driver's PBT reading came back at .18 percent BAC. A blood sample was also drawn at the hospital and police are awaiting the results from that. The driver was arrested and is facing preliminary charges of failure to remain on the scene of an accident resulting in injury and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
