IMPD: Arrest made in downtown weekend murder

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police announced an arrest Tuesday in one of two downtown murders this past weekend.

29-year-old Tyler Newby faces charges in the murder of 18-year-old Dorian Murrell who was shot at East Market Street and North Pennsylvania Street Saturday evening during violent protests downtown.

Murrell's death was one of two downtown during the same time period.

38-year-old Chris Beaty, a local businessman and former Indiana University football player was also murdered.

There has not been an announced arrest in the Beaty murder.
