INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for help identifying the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 1-year-old boy and seriously injured his 9-year-old sister.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the 1600 block of Nelson Avenue. The driver in the vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Nelson Avenue and turned south onto South State Street, according to IMPD.
Police said medics transported the 1-year-old, identified as Eli Anders, to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His sister was hospitalized in serious condition following the crash.
IMPD released a video of the vehicle obtained by investigators. The vehicle is the second lighter colored vehicle that turns right.
Detectives are asking the public's help identifying the make or model of the suspect's vehicle. Anyone with information should contact the IMPD Accident Investigation Office at 317-327-6549 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
