INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say a woman had a potentially lethal amount of alcohol in her blood Thursday night when she crashed into a truck on the northeast side.

The crash happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the New Bridge Apartments near 25th Street and Hillside Avenue.

Police said they arrived on scene to find 32-year-old Tamara Dearman highly intoxicated inside of a vehicle that had crashed through a fence and collided with a truck.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

According to the incident report, Dearman registered a BAC of 0.395 on a portable breath test – nearly five times the legal limit.

A blood alcohol level above 0.3 carries a risk of sudden loss of consciousness.

At Dearman’s alleged blood alcohol level, there is a serious risk of coma or even death.

Police took Dearman into custody on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A search warrant was granted for a blood draw in the case.
