INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man is facing child abuse charges over allegations he caused serious injuries to a foster child in his care.

Kyle Rice, 26, was charged Friday was battery resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury after his 2-month-old foster daughter was brought to Riley Hospital for Children with multiple bruises and bone fractures across her body.

In total, doctors said they found the infant suffering from 20 definitive fractures and 15 suspected fractures – including five fractures in her hands and seven suspected fractured ribs.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, doctors determined the injuries were “indicative of physical abuse.”

In an interview with police, Rice reportedly admitted that he had become frustrated when the infant wouldn’t stop crying. According to the affidavit, Rice told police in an attempt to make her stop crying he had squeezed her forcefully against his chest and “crushed her hands and feet inside his hands while he pushed her limbs toward her chest.”
