Indiana State Police are currently investigating after a man was shot and killed by a Lawrenceburg police officer early Saturday.
ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said Lawrenceburg police were called to Summit Pointe Apartments on Deer Run Drive for a domestic disturbance. According to Wheeles, a Lawrenceburg officer shot and killed an armed man who they said engaged the officer with a knife in the hallway of the apartment building. Wheeles said officers provided medical attention to the man, but he died from his injuries at the scene.
After the shooting, Wheeles said investigators began checking on nearby apartment units. Police found a woman dead inside one of the units from an apparent homicide, according to ISP.
"We do believe it's all connected, but at this point, it's going to be a long investigation until we can try to put all these pieces together of what actually occurred," Wheeles said.
It is unknown whether the man and woman lived together, but investigators said they both had addresses at the Summit Pointe Apartments.
