LOGANSPORT — Kokomo police arrested a 26-year-old man Saturday, a day after he allegedly shot another man to death.

According to information from the Kokomo Police Department, William Austin Mealer, 26, of Kokomo, was arrested at 1:20 p.m. Saturday. Mealer is accused of killing Dennis J. Vincent, 43, of Kokomo.

Vincent was found with lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds Friday afternoon in the 400 block of North Purdum Street in Kokomo.

Police said Mealer was arrested without incident in Logansport, and he was transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.

RTV6 reported on Mealer in June 2017 after he survived two gunshot wounds to his head during a robbery in which he said two men took his cellphone and $300.

Anyone with information about Friday's shooting is asked to contact Kokomo Police Department Captain Mike Banush at 765-456-7278.
