Kokomo man charged with murder in girlfriend's death

KOKOMO — A Kokomo man faces a murder charge after a woman was found dead Sunday afternoon.

Kokomo Police Department officers found Elizabeth Rodriguez, 40, of Kokomo, before 4:15 p.m. Sunday after they were dispatched to the 1200 block of West Taylor Street on a report of an unconscious, unresponsive person, Sgt. Rich Benzinger said in a news release. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives later arrested Rodriguez's 28-year-old boyfriend, James M. Charles, who has been charged with murder.

An autopsy for Rodriguez is scheduled for Monday at Community Howard Regional Health.
