Lafayette police investigating homicide and arson

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette police and fire departments are investigating a homicide and arson after one man died and another was injured Sunday morning.

According to a release, Lafayette police received a call at 6:12 a.m. Sunday that a man had been been stabbed at 818 S. 31st St. The caller said the house was on fire.

A deceased man was found in the house with gunshot wounds, while Thomas Day was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in critical but stable condition with stab wounds. Both men lived in the house.

No firearm was found at the scene, and the deceased man's identity was withheld until after an autopsy could be performed.
