LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Police Department has launched a homicide investigation following the shooting death of a 32-year-old man Monday on Pendleton Pike.

Police located a person shot, later identified as 32-year-old Cameron Anderson, on 11200 Pendleton Pike around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. He was pronounced dead at IU Health Methodist Hospital, where medics had transported him in critical condition.

LPD investigators believe the shooting happened while the 32-year-old was driving east on Pendleton Pike.

Witnesses at the time of the incident, according to police, said there may have been a second person inside of the victim's vehicle who escaped on foot before police arrived. At the time of this report, police have yet to identify that person.

Investigators believe shots were fired from outside of Anderson's vehicle, and not the inside.

Police are working to determine a suspect's identity and vehicle description, along with the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
