BLOOMINGTON — A 19-year-old accidentally shot himself in the leg while walking near Indiana University's Memorial Stadium on Monday.
Bloomington police were called to the area just west of Dunn Street and Varsity Lane just before 4 p.m. Monday. Police said they initially believed the man had been shot by someone else, however, the man eventually admitted that the gun had gone off in his pocket as he was walking.
The discharged round struck the man in the leg, police said. The victim was taken to the IU Health emergency department for treatment.
