INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested after police say he was breaking into vehicles of Task Force One members who are deployed to help with Hurricane Dorian.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the Task Force One offices just after 3:20 a.m. on September 3 for an alarm. Arriving officers noted a man inside the gated area who was walking around vehicles in the parking lot.

Officers eventually found the man hiding under one of the vehicles and he ran. He was eventually apprehended after tripping and falling on his face.

The 39-year-old man was placed under arrest by IMPD after officers located evidence, including tools used to cut through fencing and remove items from vehicles. Official charges will be filed by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

IMPD officers are working extra patrols in the area because several members of Task Force One are currently deployed for hurricane relief.
