INDIANAPOLIS — Police arrested a 32-year-old man Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of a man last week at a south side pub.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives took Derek Oechsle, 32, into custody for allegedly killing Christopher Smith, 41, Nov. 29 at Jake's Pub in the 1200 block of West Southport Road.

Police said there was a disturbance at the bar before the shooting that left two people with gunshot wounds. Smith was taken to the Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, but he later died.

Specific charging information for Oechsle was not available Wednesday night.
