INDIANAPOLIS — Police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the January 2019 shooting death of an Indianapolis woman.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, homicide detectives working with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Samuel Newson, 19, for his alleged involvement in the Jan. 9, 2019 shooting death of Svitlana Novotney, 19. Novotney was found dead in a running vehicle.
According to police, officers were called to the 7400 block of Merganser Drive on Jan. 9, 2019 on report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found Novotney in a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
