INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested a 16-year-old suspect Tuesday in connection with a November murder on Indianapolis' north side.

The Violent Crimes Unit and SWAT team arrested the teen on an active murder warrant for his alleged involvement in the death of 35-year-old Stephen Coach.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, at approximately 7:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of N Pennsylvania Street on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they located Coach with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Medics transported Coach to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Detectives canvassed the area for video footage, witnesses, and potential forensic evidence.

After following up on several leads, they successfully identified the 16-year-old as the suspect in this case.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after several weeks of trying to locate the suspect, IMPD VCU detectives and the SWAT team located him in the 4100 block of Elmont Terrace and took him into custody without incident.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Shem Ragsdale at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475.
