Man flags down off-duty officer after shooting on Indy's west side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man sought help from an off-duty police officer in a parking lot off West 38th Street following a shooting on the city's west side on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 6900 block of West 38th Street around 6:21 p.m. Tuesday on report of a person shot.

Police said there is a second location that may be the crime scene off Waterfront Parkway at Crawfordsville Road, about two miles south of where the man sought help from the off-duty officer.

The condition of the victim is unknown, police said.

Investigators at both locations are still working to figure out what exactly happened.
