KOKOMO — A man was found bound with duct tape in the bathtub of a home while police were investigating after a woman was shot to death in a back yard.
Kokomo Police Departmetn officers were called to the home in the 700 block of South Courtland Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on February 3 for a report of "shots fired." Arriving officers found a female deceased in the back yard of a home. She has been identified as Lashay R. Young-Beard, 25.
While investigating the woman's death, detectives also found a 24-year-old victim in a bathtub of the home bound with duct tape over his mouth, wrists and ankles.
The man told investigators he had been confined in the residence for 11 days during which time he had been battered and burned with hot water on several occasions.
The victim said he and Young-Beard knew the suspects who confined him. At this time Young-Beard is not considered a suspect and police say they do not believe she was confined.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and alleged kidnapping.
