Man found dead Tuesday on north side had been shot, police say

INDIANAPOLIS — A man who was found dead Tuesday afternoon on the north side of Indianapolis had been shot, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of West 30th Street near Interstate 65 and Crown Hill Cemeter just before 2 p.m. "on a report of a possible death investigation," IMPD public information officer William Young said in an email.

When police arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

IMPD homicide detectives are investigating the man's death. His identity has not been released.
