Man found guilty in death of roommate stabbed 70 times

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- A Marion County judge found a man guilty Friday in a retrial on charges he stabbed his roommate to death in 2015.

Caleb Bixler was 18 years old when police say he and his roommate Keith Cornwell beat and stabbed their third roommate, 37-year-old Ron Trahan, more than 70 times in August 2015.

Trahan’s body was found under a pile of mulch in a warehouse parking lot on East Michigan Street.

Cornwell was found guilty of murder in February and sentenced to 51 years in prison.

A May trial in Bixler’s case ended in a hung jury, however, with jurors unable to reach a verdict.
Bixler appeared again in court earlier this month for a retrial in front of Judge Kurt Eisgruber.

On Friday, Eisgruber announced his verdict, finding Bixler guilty of murder.

A sentencing hearing was scheduled for Nov. 17 in Marion County Criminal Court 1.
