ANDERSON — Police are dealing with conflicting information after they issued a Silver Alert for a woman on Wednesday following a report from a naked man that a woman was kidnapped.

Anderson Police Department released Major Joel Sandefur said it all began after they got a report of a man walking nude along the interstate around 4 a.m. An officer found the 27-year-old homeless man walking near mile marker 237. The man told officers that he and a woman had been kidnapped from the area of W. 2nd Street and Madison Avenue. The man also said that an unknown man had driven them out into the country and forced him to get naked before making him get out of the vehicle.

Following the report, Anderson Police and Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for the missing woman, which was later canceled after the woman called police. The woman said she was sitting at the home in question when a friend told her that there was a Silver Alert out for her.

According to Sandefur, the woman claims her and the man got into a vehicle with a a man they didn't know and went for a drive. She says the man she was with got naked and jumped out of the vehicle at some point during their drive and she returned home.

Police arrested the man found wandering naked on a prior warrant out of Marion County. He's also facing an additional charge of false informing.

The woman who was part of the Silver Alert was not arrested.

The case remains under investigation.
