INDIANAPOLIS — One person was shot and killed early Thursday in a neighborhood on the north side of Indianapolis, police said.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 2200 block of East 39th Street, east of Fall Creek, at 12:52 a.m. They found a man, identified as 38-year-old Steven Fields Jr., suffering from gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's name and information about what led to the shooting have not been released. Police have not provided a possible suspect description.
The shooting on the morning of the final day of 2020 marks the 244th homicide of the year in Indianapolis.
