INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed during what police believe was a distburance on Indianapolis' east side Wednesday morning.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 600 block of N. Grant Ave. just before 11 a.m. for a report of a person who had been shot.

According to IMPD Officer Samone Burrins, arriving officers located an adult male suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound outside of a residence in the area. That man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's identity has not been released at this time.

Burris says detectives believe a disturbance between the victim and another man resulted in the shooting. Homicide detectives are still interviewing witnesses and following leads at the scene.

It is unclear if police have a suspect at this time.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact IMPD or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
