Memorial ceremony set for Fishers Police Dept. K-9 killed in the line of duty

FISHERS — The memorial ceremony for a Fishers Police Dept. K-9 officer killed in the line of duty earlier this week have been set.

K-9 Harlej, a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who had been with the Fishers Police Department since 2015, was killed while assisting the police in a manhunt early Wednesday morning.

The public is invited to attend the memorial ceremony for Harlej on Wednesday, November 20, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the FIshers High School gym on promise road.

The police department is asking K-9 teams to arrive at 4 p.m. and the public will be allowed in starting at 5 p.m.

Following the ceremony, officers will lead a procession of Fishers Police Departmetn employees, retirees, family and special guests only from the high school to the George Kehl Police Station.
