ANDERSON — A 23-year-old Elwood woman will serve 60-years in prison for the murder of her 11-month-old daughter.

22-year-old Anna Pablo was sentenced Thursday in Madison County Circuit Court. She was arrested last March on a neglect of a dependent charge. Following an autopsy, Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings added a murder charge.

Pablo pleaded guilty to murder in November. At the time of the infant's death, Madison County Coroner Danielle Noone, who had called the baby's death "suspicious" from the start, said Emmarie Pablo died from "blunt force injuries to the head, strangulation and suffocation."

According to Elwood Police Department Lt. Zach Taylor, Emmarie was brought by her mother to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The infant lived at 2009 Main Street in Elwood, about 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

A second defendant in the case, 27-year-old Zachary Foor, agreed to plead guilty to murder charges late last year, but then changed his mind.

Foor is scheduled to be in court next month.
