One person dead following shooting on Indy's southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was shot and killed on the southeast side of Indianapolis late Thursday.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1600 block of Harlan Street shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday on report of a person shot. The location is near South Keystone Avenue and East Minnesota Street.

The man was rushed from the scene to a local hospital, but did not survive.

He was identified as Justus Hudson, 27, according to the Marion County Coroner's Office.

A report from an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department public information officer did not say what might have prompted the shooting or whether police had a specific suspect they were looking for.
