Suspect told police he killed 25-year-old in Marion because he made a comment about a family member

MARION — One person is dead after a shooting in Marion early Sunday morning.

The Marion Police Department officers responded to the home in the 2500 block of Jefferson Circle just after 6:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Arriving officers found one victim at the scene and they were transported to the hospital where they later died. The victim was later identified as Isaiah Horton, 25.

Police arrested Vincent Sharp Jr., 24, after he confessed to shooting and killing Horton. Sharp told detectives that he was walking his dog when Horton began commenting about one of his family members. Sharp said he then ran after Horton and began shooting him. He said the incident was part of an "ongoing fued" between the two of them.

Sharp has been preliminarily charged with murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
