INDIANAPOLIS — One person is in "extremely critical" condition after a double shooting on Indianapolis' east side, police said.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1400 block of South Bancroft Street shortly after 5 p.m. on report of a person shot.
Officer William Young, a spokesman for IMPD, said officers on patrol in the area reported hearing shots fired in the area and officers began saturating the area. Officers found two victims in the apartment complex in the 1400 block of South Bancroft Street.
"Once our officers arrived here on scene our officers applied medical attention themselves to both individuals potentially saving both of their lives," Young said. "Those officers were able to provide what we call a tourniquet that officers carry on their duty belt in order to help with stab wounds or gunshot wounds."
Police said two people were shot and transported to an area hospital. One person is in extremely critical condition. The other person is in stable condition, police said.
