One person killed in shooting just east of Downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a shooting Wednesday morning just east of Downtown Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the shooting in the 1000 block of East Washington Street just after 5:30 a.m. where one person was found, IMPD public information officer Samone Burris said in an email.

The victim originally was reported in serious condition, but Burris said they later died.

Police have not released information about possible suspects or the victim's identity. Investigators are working to learn what led to the shooting.

Another shooting was reported minutes earlier in the 3100 block of South Rybolt Avenue on the southwest side. Burris said the victim is in critical condition.
