The officer lost sight of the vehicle but eventually found it parked in a driveway in the 4600 block of SR 234.

A man and woman – later identified as Paschal and Joslin – got out of the truck as the deputy approached, but then they got back into the still-running vehicle.

State police say Paschal then suddenly drove the truck toward the deputy and the deputy fired, hitting him.

Paschal drove off, eventually pulling his truck into an open barn in the 7600 block of SR 234. The homeowner saw the truck and called 911.

Paschal was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury. As of Tuesday evening, police said Paschal remained hospitalized at IU Health Methodist Hospital in good condition.

Joslin appeared in court Monday for an initial hearing. Bond was set at $14,000 surety plus $1,000 cash.
