INDIANAPOLIS -- A fatal shooting at a northeast side park involving two 18-year-olds over the weekend may have stemmed from a planned gun sale, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday.
Deante Williams, 18, was found shot inside of a blue Mazda at Wes Montgomery Park Sunday evening. He later died of his injuries at Eskenazi Hospital.
On Tuesday, police announced they had arrested another 18-year-old, Eugene Jones, on preliminary charges of robbery and murder in Williams’ death.

In a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, police said they believe Williams had set up a meeting at the park to sell Jones a handgun.
According to the affidavit, Williams’ girlfriend told police he had her drive him to the park, where he said they were going to meet up with his friend from North Central High School named “Eugene.”
When they arrived, she said the person her boyfriend identified as Eugene got into the back seat of the car.
Williams then allegedly handed Jones an unloaded gun.
At that point, the witness told police Jones placed his own gun against the back of Williams’ head.
Williams reportedly asked Jones, “Is that what you’re on?” To which Jones, according to the affidavit, replied, “Yeah bro, you know what I’m on.”
“Just take it all then,” Williams reportedly said.
The witness told police Jones then opened the back door and began to step out of the car. As he did so, he reportedly shot Williams twice, before running off.
