LAWRENCE — Lawrence police say the shots fired at an 18-year-old driver were likely fired from a second vehicle in the area Wednesday evening.

Lawrence Police Department officers were called to the area of 56th Street and Boy Scout Road just after 6 p.m. for shots fired and a car that had struck a pole. Arriving officers found Domanic Jones, 18, suffering critical injuries from at least one gunshot wound and transported him to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses told police that three other people were inside the vehicle when Jones crashed and fled from the scene. Officers located all three a short time later and they were interviewed and released. Detectives determined there may have been shots fired at Jones' vehicle from an unknown person driving a second vehicle.

So far no arrests have been made and police do not have any suspects.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
