Subway employee critically injured in shooting during robbery attempt on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A Subway employee was critically injured when she was shot while trying to stop a robbery attempt Friday night at the sandwich shop on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

A suspect entered the Subway in the 8900 block of East 38th Street just after 6:30 p.m. and attempted to rob the restaurant, according to information from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

A female employee attempted to stop the robbery suspect and an altercation occurred in which a shot went off, striking the employee.

She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
