INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was shot and killed Monday night on the northeast side near Fort Harrison State Park.
The shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 7000 block of Kingswood Court, near the intersection of Shadeland Avenue and 65th Street.
Police were called to the area on a report of a person shot and arrived to find Ryan Brown, 21, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Brown was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time later.
IMPD said they were treating the death as a murder investigation.
The shooting is the first criminal homicide in at least two years in the part of Indianapolis north of Fort Harrison State Park and east of I-465 and I-69.
