INDIANAPOLIS — Two or three people are in custody Friday night after a child was shot on the north side of Indianapolis.

Aaron Hamer, a public information officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, said a pre-teen child was struck by a stray bullet on 29th Street near Barnes Avenue after the child got caught in the crossfire between people in an altercation. Hamer said the child is in stable condition.

The suspects were taken into custody for questioning, and detectives are still investigating the scene.
