Police ask for help in solving recent downtown murder

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are asking for the public's help in solving the recent murder of a young woman on the Downtown Canal.

24-year-old Jessica Doty-Whitaker was shot to early Sunday morning. She died a short time later at an Indianapolis hospital.

Homicide detectives are asking for assistance from the community. Detectives have images from the area that show multiple people when the shooting occurred. Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was on the canal during that time.
