Police investigate apparent murder-suicide on the south side of Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — Metro police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide on the city's south side on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 8000 block of Meadow Lane just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of suspicious activity.

After officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male and an adult female suffering from apparent trauma. Emergency medical personnel arrived, however, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin the investigation and based upon their initial investigation said the incident appears to be a murder-suicide. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The two people were identified as Larry Thomas, 81, and Janet Thomas, 72. Their relationship is unknown at this time.
