Police investigate man's death on Indy's northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man Monday morning on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called just after 8:30 a.m. Monday on report of a person down inside a residence in the 3700 block of Baltimore Avenue. Officers found a man suffering from undisclosed trauma.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Eric Jones, 57. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Homicide detectives from IMPD responded to the area and began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in the identification and collection of potential forensic evidence.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
