INDIANAPOLIS — A semi struck the 75th Street bridge over I-465 on the city's northeast side early Friday morning.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers say the semi was southbound on I-465 when they hit the bridge, taking a large chunk out of it and sending debris sprawling over the interstate.
Police say the semi driver left the scene and police are still searching for the truck and driver involved.
Crews had 75th Street between Binford Boulevard and Shadeland Avenue closed for a long period Friday morning while they assessed the damage and the structural integrity of the bridge.
Part of I-465 in the area was briefly shut down as well while crews cleaned up the debris that fell onto the interstate.
