Shooting on Indy's near west side leaves 19-year-old man dead

INDIANAPOLIS — A shooting on the near west side of Indianapolis has left one man dead on Friday.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at approximately 9:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a person down in the area of 1115 N Tibbs Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 19-year-old Jermiaha Charles Billups.
