INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested in a Thursday evening shooting death on the Indianapolis west side.

The suspect, who is 57-years-old, has not been formally charged in the shooting which police believe was domestic-related. The Marion County Prosecutor will review the case.

Police responded to a shots fired call at 1909 North Koehne Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. That's north of West 16th Street and east of Riverside Drive.

Officers located a man, believed to be around 30-years-old, who had been shot in the head and died at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians were dispatched and police requested additional officers as a crowd gathered.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was shot just inside the front door of a house. Police believe the man was targeted by his assailant.

With nearly four months left in 2020, Indianapolis is headed to the most homicide cases in the city's history.
