Suspect hospitalized following police-involved shooting in Crawfordsville

CRAWFORDSVILLE — Indiana State Police has confirmed that a police-involved shooting occurred in Crawfordsville on Thursday night following an attempted traffic stop by the Crawfordsville Police Department.

According to ISP, the traffic violation by a Jeep Cherokee happened at approximately 8:10 p.m. in the 2000 Block of Lebanon Road. Following a short pursuit, the suspect, Joshua Brown, 41, stopped the vehicle at 150 North Banjo Drive where officers issued commands that he was not receptive toward.

Brown reportedly waved a firearm toward the police officers, when police fired at the suspect. The suspect was hit at least once in the face, according to ISP Trp. Nathan Hampton. No officers were injured in the shooting.

The suspect was first sent to Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville, then transported to St. Vincent in Indianapolis with unknown injuries.

This case remains open and active by ISP. No charges have been filed at this time.

The officer involved in this incident will be released at a later date.
