INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are looking for two men suspected in a pair of smash-and-grab jewelry store robberies after a second business was hit last week.

Last Thursday, employees at the Castleton Kay’s Jewelers location were preparing to close up for the evening when an unidentified male suspect walked into the store and ordered everyone to the ground, saying it was a robbery.

A second suspect then entered the store carrying a yellow hammer and smashed open a display case. Police estimate the pair was able to steal $45,000-worth of jewelry before fleeing the scene.

Investigators were able to recover surveillance video of the thieves, as well as several rings dropped outside the store.

North District Commander Joshua Barker says the suspects are also being looked at in connection to a similar robbery at a Kay Jewelers in Cumberland last May.

“The MO fits pretty closely,” Barker said. “So now the theory is that these two individuals responsible for this Kay Jewelers robbery are likely the same two individuals, or perhaps one or the other individuals are also responsible for a robbery that took place in May of last year.”

Investigators say the thieves in the Cumberland robbery managed to make off with nearly $100,000-worth of jewelry.

The suspects in both cases are described as black males in their mid-20s. Both had short facial hair and stood between 5’6” and 6’0” tall. In the most recent robbery, one suspect was reportedly wearing a puffy, green coat and jeans. The other suspect was wearing an unknown-colored jacket and jeans. Both wore gloves during the robbery.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. Your call may remain anonymous.
