BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington teen has been arrested after police say he shot at a man multiple times during a dispute over girls on New Year's Day.
Bloomington Police Department officers responded to the home in the 3800 block of East Morningside Drive for a man who had been shot in a parking lot around 11:40 p.m. The victim, a 26-year-old male, was taken to the hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds. His condition is unknown at this time.
Witnesses in the area were able to give police a description of the shooter and his vehicle. Officers located and stopped the suspect in the area of 17th Street and College Avenue a short time later. A 17-year-old was taken into custody and police located a handgun on his person while placing him under arrest.
Police later learned that the shooting stemmed from an incident between the two men over girls. When the suspect went to the home on Morningside Drive to confront the victim, he fired several rounds at him from his gun, striking him twice — once in the right arm and once in the side.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody and is charge with attempted murder.
The incident remains under investigation.
