INDIANAPOLIS — Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old Indianapolis boy on Wednesday.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the boy's 19-year-old mother and a 21-year-old man are being held in the Marion County Jail on suspicion of neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
Police said the boy died from blunt force trauma.
Police said officers were called to the 6000 block of North Keystone Avenue for an unresponsive child just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Responding officers said an ambulance had been flagged down before they arrived and the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of their investigation, homicide detectives determined that the child had been injured in the 6000 block of Primrose Avenue. The Marion County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy Thursday and ruled the death a homicide.
