2 people killed in separate shootings Friday night in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people died in separate shootings Friday night in Indianapolis.

The first incident happened just before 10 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Park Avenue near East 30th Street on the city's north side. A man, who was also hit by a vehicle driven by a possible suspect, died at the scene, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Minutes later, on the west side, a woman was shot in the 1200 block of North King Avenue. Medics transported the woman to an area hospital in critical condition, but she died later in the evening, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Homicide detectives responded to both locations and looked for witnesses to interview. Police have not released information about possible suspects or motives behind the shootings. The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the victims.
