Two teens charged with murder in 18-year-old man's death in Lawrence

LAWRENCE — Two teens are accused of murder in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old in Lawrence earlier this week.

Police say Domanic Jones was driving a vehicle with three passengers when he was hit by a shot fired from a second vehicle and crashed. The three passengers fled the scene but were later taken into custody for questioning and then released.

On Friday, Lawrence police arrested a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old in connection with the crime. Both teens have been preliminarily charged with murder.

Police believe the teens were in another vehicle when they fired on Jones near the intersection of Boy Scout Road and 56th Street around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Lawrence Police Department.
