CARROLL COUNTY — A 31-year-old West Lafayette man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her current male friend.
According to a report from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a 911 call at 12:08 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 12300 block of West Tippecanoe Ranch Road reporting a man trying to forcibly enter the residence.
Deputies said the man, 31-year-old Kyle E. Strong, of West Lafayette, had been trying to enter the house to pursue his 30-year-old ex-girlfriend and her 42-year-old male friend who were in the house. Strong reportedly had a firearm and a hammer in his possession. Deputies said Strong was also reportedly seen with bricks in hand, which were at the location.
At one point, the male friend went outside to confront Strong and a physical confrontation occurred, deputies said. The male was able to elude Strong and went to a neighbor's home to have someone call 911.
Two sheriff's deputies arrived on scene and quickly took Strong into custody, the sheriff's office said.
Strong has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon, and operating a vehicle after being labeled a habitual traffic offender.
